Everything In One Place

We get the same questions every week, so we put the real answers here — grouped by topic. If you're weighing a metal building for a shop, warehouse, barndominium, carport, or business park, this should clear up the big unknowns before you ever pick up the phone. Want a number on your specific building? Skip ahead and lay it out in our free 3D Designer, or read our Cost Guide first.

Cost & Quotes

How much does a metal building cost in Fort Worth?

There's no honest flat number — price depends on the size and height, the foundation, your site's grading and access, wind and snow loads, doors and openings, insulation, and how much finish work you want. A simple carport sits at one end and a multi-tenant business park at the other. The right way to budget is a real, itemized quote on your actual building and site. Our Cost Guide walks through the line items that move the number so you can ballpark it before we talk.

Is a quote free, and is it binding?

Yes, the quote is free and there's no obligation. We give you a clear, itemized quote — not a vague per-square-foot guess — so you can see exactly what you're paying for. We'd rather you understand the number than be surprised by it. The fastest way to start is to lay out your building in our free 3D Designer and send it over, or just tell us what you need.

Why do prices vary so much between builders?

Because not everyone is quoting the same scope. A low number often leaves out sitework, foundation, utilities, permitting, or upgraded steel gauge — costs that land on you later. We self-perform sitework, foundation, steel erection, utilities, and permitting, and we put those line items in the quote up front. Compare quotes line by line, not just bottom line. The Cost Guide shows what should be on every quote.

Timeline

How long does it take to build a metal building?

It depends on size, site conditions, permitting, weather, and how quickly the engineered drawings are reviewed and signed off — so we won't quote a one-size-fits-all timeline. Because one team runs sitework through steel erection, there's no handoff lag between separate subcontractors, which keeps schedules tight. You'll get a realistic timeline with your itemized quote.

What's the first step and how soon can you start?

The first step is a conversation about your site, your use, and your budget. From there we move to design and quote, then permitting and engineered-drawing sign-off, then the build. Start time depends on your site readiness, permitting in your jurisdiction, and our current schedule. Tell us your target date and we'll be straight with you about what's realistic. See how it works for the full sequence.

Permitting & Engineering

Do you handle permitting, or do I line that up myself?

We coordinate permitting so you're not chasing it yourself — we can pull just about any permit your project needs across Fort Worth and North Texas jurisdictions. Requirements vary by city and county, and we handle the differences as part of the job.

Who engineers and stamps the drawings?

Engineered drawings come from the building manufacturer. You review and sign off on them, and then they're stamped — so you build from approved, code-compliant plans. We coordinate that process and self-perform the sitework, foundation, steel erection, utilities, and permitting around it. We don't engineer or stamp drawings in-house; that's by design, so your plans carry a manufacturer's engineering behind them. See the full sequence on how it works.

Steel vs. Wood

Is steel really better than a wood-framed building?

For most shops, warehouses, barns, and large spans, steel earns its keep. It clears wide spans without interior posts, it won't rot, warp, or feed termites, it stands up to North Texas wind and hail better than wood, and it's typically lower-maintenance over a building's life. Wood still has its place, but if you want a durable, open, low-upkeep structure, steel is usually the stronger long-term value.

Will a metal building hold up to North Texas weather?

Yes, when it's engineered for it. Engineered drawings account for the wind and load requirements in your area, and steel handles high winds, heat, and hail well. Proper insulation and ventilation also keep a metal building comfortable through Texas summers. The structure is only as good as the engineering and the crew that erects it — which is why approved drawings and our own erection crews matter. See warranty & specs for the structural details.

Barndominiums

Can you build a barndominium, and is it a home or a shop?

Yes. A barndominium is a steel building that combines living space with workspace — think a shop, garage, or barn under the same roof as a residence. We build the structure, foundation, sitework, and shell, and coordinate the engineered drawings and permitting. We focus on the shell; when a project specifically calls for interior finish-out, we'll handle it and tell you what makes sense for your build.

Foundation & Sitework

Do I need a special foundation, and do you pour it?

Yes, we self-perform sitework and foundations. The right foundation depends on your soil, the building size, and how you'll use it — a slab for a finished shop is different from piers for a carport. We handle grading and the pad, then pour slabs and foundations to spec so the structure sits on something built for it. North Texas soils move, so getting the foundation right up front matters.

My site isn't level or cleared — can you still build?

Usually, yes. Sitework is one of the things we self-perform, including grading, pad prep, and drainage — even on larger acreage. We'll look at access, slope, and drainage as part of the quote so there are no surprises once crews are on site. Bring us the raw lot and we'll tell you what it takes to make it build-ready.

Financing

Do you offer financing?

Financing options for metal buildings do exist through third-party lenders, and we can point you in the right direction. We don't lend in-house and we won't promise rates or terms we don't control. See our Financing page for an honest overview of how buyers typically fund a project, then talk to us about your specifics.

Warranty

Is the building under warranty?

Steel buildings typically carry manufacturer warranties on the structure and on certain coatings, and the workmanship we self-perform stands behind our crews. Exact warranty terms depend on the manufacturer and the components specified for your build. Our Warranty & Specs page lays out how warranties and specifications generally work so you know what to ask about before you sign.

Service Area

What areas do you serve?

We're a West Fort Worth builder based in West Fort Worth, Fort Worth, TX 76108, and we serve Fort Worth and the surrounding DFW Metroplex and North Texas. Tell us where your site is and we'll let you know how we can help. See our service areas for the communities we cover.

Self-Perform vs. Kits

What's the difference between a kit and a self-performed build?

A kit is a pile of steel delivered to your lot — you're on the hook for the foundation, erection, utilities, permitting, and every subcontractor in between. We're full-service general contractors: we self-perform sitework, foundation, steel erection, utilities, and permitting, and coordinate the engineered drawings, so you deal with one team from the first drawing to the final walkthrough instead of stitching it together yourself. See exactly how it works.
